HIPRA focuses on Gumboro disease at the WVPA Congress in Kuching

Aus

HIPRA took part in the 23rd edition of the World Veterinary Poultry Association Congress (WVPA), held in Kuching, Malaysia, from October 6th to 10th. As a Diamond Sponsor, the company featured a prominent stand that became a key meeting point for poultry professionals and the epicenter of numerous activities throughout the week.

A memorable start in Kuching

HIPRA began its participation in the congress by welcoming over 80 poultry industry professionals from Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Guests enjoyed a unique experience that combined knowledge, culture, and nature: a visit to the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, where they could observe orangutans in their natural habitat, followed by a welcome dinner at the Hilton Hotel, in the heart of Kuching.

Commitment to Gumboro Prevention

Throughout the week, HIPRA’s activities, including those held at its stand, revolved around a central theme: the prevention of Gumboro disease and the challenges posed by new emerging strains.

In response to this reality, HIPRA reinforced its positioning with GUMBOHATCH®, its new-generation immune complex vaccine, featuring a differential concept of competitive exclusion and a vaccine strain 100% coated with IgY, ensuring the best balance of efficacy and safety against new variants of the virus.

A symposium with international experts

As part of its role as Diamond Sponsor, HIPRA performed a Satellite Symposium dedicated to analyzing the current situation of emerging Gumboro strains in different regions of the world.
The symposium featured the participation of distinguished experts:

  • Marta Busquet, Global Franchise Manager at HIPRA, who opened the session and presented a global overview of the situation.
  • Prof. Hair Bejo (University Putra Malaysia), who provided an update on the situation in Asia.
  • Prof. Sultan (Sadat City University), who addressed the context in the Middle East.
  • Michelle Woodward, Global Product Manager at HIPRA, who closed the session with a presentation on strategies for controlling emerging IBDV strains.

At its stand, HIPRA introduced an innovative format: the “Coffeerences”, short, live talks focused on Gumboro disease, which attendees could join while enjoying a good cup of coffee.
Wearing headsets, delegates followed the presentations in a relaxed and engaging environment.

Celebrating five years of GUMBOHATCH®

To conclude the week, HIPRA organized a commemorative party to celebrate the fifth anniversary of GUMBOHATCH® on the market.
Games, traditional dances, performances, a special cake, and the now-iconic song “In GUMBOHATCH® I trust” brought a perfect close to a week full of activity and celebration.

With its participation in the WVPA Congress 2025, HIPRA reaffirms its commitment to innovation and prevention in poultry health, consolidating its position as a leader in solutions for the control of diseases such as Gumboro.
