As part of the 34th ECCMID congress, the symposium titled COVID-19 booster immunization. Key drivers for a sustained protection was held, addressing various immunological and strategic aspects of vaccination against SARS-CoV-2. Four speakers participated, presenting data and insights on correlates of protection for COVID-19 vaccines, future prospects of receptor-binding domain (RBD)-based vaccines, the efficacy of vaccine-induced protection against Omicron variants, and immune phenotyping of longitudinal cohorts of SARS-CoV-2, influenza, and dengue vaccination. The symposium concluded with a Q&A session with the audience, which enriched the discussion on current and future challenges in the field of immunization.
