HIPRA and IRTA promote a project focused on improving the diagnosis and use of PRRS control tools

Swine

HIPRA had the privilege of receiving the visit of the management and scientific team of the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA) to continue the strategic collaboration agreement that both institutions have been carrying out for several years. With the aim of exploring joint development opportunities, the IRTA representatives toured the company's facilities to learn about its high production standards and daily operations.

The agreement between IRTA-CReSA and HIPRA aims to promote innovation and development and improve the technologies applied to the swine sector, taking advantage of the experience and knowledge shared between both institutions.

The current project has been consolidated in an industrial doctorate on improving efficiency in the diagnosis and use of tools for the control of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), one of the biggest health challenges currently facing the sector.

IRTA

IRTA is one of the most important research institutes of the Generalitat de Catalunya, attached to the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food. Its purpose is to promote research and technological development in the agrifood field. Specifically, the IRTA-CReSA Research Center has been designated since 2017 as a collaborating center and reference laboratory of the WOAH (World Organization for Animal Health) for Classical Swine Fever. It has high biosafety level facilities (2 and 3) where experimental research with livestock, laboratory and wild animals can be carried out.

This agreement marks an important step forward in HIPRA's commitment to research and the development of synergies as a basis for growth. The continuity of this collaboration ensures that HIPRA remains one of the leading companies in the creation of advanced solutions for the improvement of human and animal health.
