Between 5 and 9 March, HIPRA organized a HIPRA UNIVERSITY training course focussing on the prevention of mastitis in sheep, which was attended by 18 dairy sheep veterinarians from different parts of Spain.

The course started with a seminar on the calculation of the costs of the mastitis prevention programme at the HIPRA headquarters in Amer (Girona, Spain) and continued with a visit to the company’s facilities.

The remainder of the training took place in the French region of Roquefort, where Dominique Bergonier gave a technical session on epidemiology, diagnosis and measures for the control of mastitis in sheep.

In order to provide a thorough understanding of the production system in the region, visits were arranged to several farms, an artificial insemination centre and the famous Roquefort caves where one of the most famous cheeses in the world is made.

With this initiative, HIPRA once again reaffirms its commitment to the training of veterinarians and consolidates its position as the reference in prevention and control of mastitis in the small ruminants sector.
