Under the theme “Perfarming: The act of achieving the highest performance on swine farms,” HIPRA participated as a premium sponsor at the IPVS & ESPHM 2024 two of the most significant international events in the swine sector. This year, they were held jointly in Leipzig (Germany) from June 4 to 7, with over 2,500 professionals from the swine health industry attending.

The concept of “Perfarming: The act of achieving the highest performance on swine farms” was central to all activities conducted within the framework of the congress.

"Perfarming" is a term to describe farms that operate at a level above the average, continuously striving for excellence in their practices. It is a commitment to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. Here, HIPRA, dedicated to improving pig health, develops advanced prevention tools to ensure every farm can achieve its best.

The first activity organized around this theme was the exclusive event “Pigs & Tech: Driving the Future of Swine Farming,” held in a distinctive setting, the “Porsche Experience Center.” This talk show featured international industry leaders such as Enric Marco, Joaquim Segalés, and Tomas Norton, who discussed how technological advances offer solutions to our most pressing challenges in swine diseases and production.

The challenges examined were chosen by the event attendees themselves, focusing on animal welfare and farm efficiency, control of highly pathogenic strains of the PRRS virus, the importance of antibiotic reduction, sustainability, and finally ASF (African Swine Fever), a disease that crosses borders and will continue to be a challenge for the global swine industry in the future.

HIPRA had two spaces in the commercial exhibition area, one of which was exclusively dedicated to presenting the Smart Traceability project, a flexible solution designed to meet the needs of farms with the primary goal of tracing all veterinary treatments with minimal effort and maximum precision on swine farms.

From a scientific perspective, HIPRA actively participated by presenting over 55 technical posters and several oral presentations. Additionally, within the congress program, HIPRA presented a satellite symposium titled “Understanding immunity leakages to produce healthy pigs,” focusing on analyzing the most critical points for better control of neonatal diarrhoea, swine influenza, and the challenges posed by PRRS, Mhyo, PCV2, and oedema disease. Enric Marco, an international consultant in swine farming, along with David Llopart and Sergi Bruguera, both Regional Technical Marketing Managers at HIPRA, initiated an inspiring debate to chart the path towards healthier swine production.
