On Wednesday 10th July, the second edition of the Applied Microbiota Conference was held by the biotech company GoodGut of the HIPRA group, with the aim of highlighting the potential of the microbiota in the diagnosis and management of digestive diseases. This year, the event took place in Valencia’s Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències and was attended by different health professionals who presented the most relevant evidence in the field of intestinal microbiota and how to further its diagnosis in the hospital setting and in Primary Care.
The Applied Microbiota Conference, organised by GoodGut, comes to Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències of Valencia
The event dealt with concepts such as the role of the microbiota in digestive health and the analysis of the intestinal microbiota as a diagnostic tool for digestive diseases, such as colorectal cancer. Also, the potential of using the microbiota from a multidisciplinary perspective for the management of different diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome, for a more efficient health system, was discussed. Finally, an interesting topic was the role of stress in digestive diseases.
The conference concluded by highlighting the need to dare to integrate the use of these gut microbiota-based tools to generate more evidence, which will help to answer some of the questions that remain unanswered.
Following this line, GoodGut highlights “the importance of collaboration and support from the healthcare system and companies to develop solutions that solve existing needs and that, in parallel, the healthcare system facilitates the incorporation of these solutions so that the heat reaches patients”.
