The Minister of Health, Mónica García, visited today the new HIPRA Campus in Aiguaviva (Girona), HIPRA’s biotechnology innovation center, which is becoming one of Europe’s leading hubs for the research, development, and production of vaccines and biotechnological products for global public health. The Minister learned about HIPRA’s progress in the field of public health and its contribution to strengthening Europe’s health autonomy and the continent’s preparedness for future pandemics.

During the visit, the Minister received first-hand information on the latest updates regarding HIPRA’s COVID-19 vaccine, produced entirely in Spain and adapted to the LP.8.1 variant, and she announced that it will be available during the 2025–2026 vaccination campaign in Spain

“Soon we will have the vaccine available in health centers. It is a source of pride for our country, for innovation, and for the strategic autonomy of Europe and Spain to have an industry capable of developing the entire value chain—from research to production and commercialization,” the Minister stated.
