As veterinarians, a good anamnesis, an accurate differential diagnosis and proper laboratory diagnosis is required in order to correctly resolve a clinical case. A good diagnosis is even more critical when tackling diseases such as Swine Erysipelas (SE), where subclinical or chronic forms are as prevalent as clinical outbreaks, making them much more difficult to diagnose.

In addition, in this case, a careful differential diagnosis based on the stage of the productive cycle in which the disease occurs is paramount, since the wide variety of clinical signs that Swine Erysipelas causes can result in the condition being confused with other diseases.
