HIPRA organises in Malaysia a seminar on Salmonella in collaboration with local farmers' association

HIPRA Malaysia has collaborated with the Federation of Livestock Farmers’ Associations of Malaysia (FLFAM), the sole leading association representing farmers, to run a Salmonella Poultry Seminar on the 8th May. 

There was a high level of attendance with 64 participants, mainly veterinarians such as Leong Hup, QL, Huat Lai, Lay Hong, CP etc.

The objective of the seminar was mainly to provide good coverage of Salmonella disease, biosecurity, experience sharing, vaccination and government policy.

The seminar started with an opening speech from the President of FLFAM, Datuk Jeffrey Ng Choon Ngee who gave insights into the latest issues faced by farmers.

The seminar began with a talk by Dr. Nik Mohd Faiz who presented the Salmonella pathogen and its importance in poultry production.

Dr. Keat Fu, Technical manager from Aviagen, talked about biosecurity and hygiene in Salmonella control. Both speakers went into detail about what salmonella is and how to prevent this disease in Malaysia.

Also participating in the seminar were Dr. Jorge Villa, Regional Poultry Technical Manager from Hipra, Dr. Ong Shyong Wey and Dr. Siti Salmiyah, who spoke about the European experience of Salmonella control, the importance of vaccination and Malaysian policies on Salmonella control.

The session was highly rated by the appreciative participants who had benefited greatly from the seminar. 

With this initiative, HIPRA strengthens its commitment to Prevention in Animal Health in the poultry industry.
