From 12 to 15 December 2016, the 2nd International Symposium on Alternatives to Antibiotics (Challenges and Solutions for Animal Production) took place. The event was held in Paris, at the headquarters of the International Office of Epizootics (OIE).
HIPRA sponsors the 2nd International Symposium on Alternatives to Antibiotics
Organised by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) with the support of the OIE itself, the Symposium brought together a wide range of professionals from the human and veterinary health industry, focusing on new technological and scientific advances that could provide an alternative to antibiotics.
Although some of these technologies may have a general focus on human health in practice, the Symposium focused on animal health, production and food safety. Six working areas were explored in depth: vaccines that could reduce the use of medicines; probiotics and bacteriophages; prebiotics; immunomodulatory products (antibodies, peptides and cytokines); new generation medicines, chemicals and enzymes; and the required regulatory approaches to make it possible to register some of these alternatives.
HIPRA took part in the oral presentation session on vaccines, with a speech given by Jesús Rubio (Poultry Business Manager HIPRA) about the work carried out using HIPRACOX® (a live vaccine against coccidiosis) on a rotational basis in chicken fattening farms and its contribution towards reducing the use of antibiotics.
With this action, HIPRA is reinforcing its commitment as a company dedicated to prevention in animal health with the help of differential products that meet the needs of the industry.
