HIPRA organizes an HIPRA UNIVERSITY course on “Prevention through feedlot ventilation management and its importance in BRD control” in Italy

On 29th and 30th of November 2017, HIPRA Italia organized two HIPRA UNIVERSITY events in two regions of Italy: Piedmont (North West) and Veneto (North East). The workshop focused on the interaction between BRD and ventilation in zootechnical buildings. Dr. Antonio Callejo Ramon (agronomic engineer from the University of Madrid) and Fabio Rampin and Chiara Manzoli (Technical Marketing Managers, HIPRA Italia) were the main speakers on this course.

During the technical sessions, Dr. Antonio Callejo Ramon highlighted how the speed of air circulation and the entrance and exit directions affect the removal of harmful gases, the humidity and the influence of perceived temperature. The structural elements of the buildings are fundamental to computing the ventilation and the speaker showed the vets attending the workshop how to measure it and correct it.

Fabio Rampin and Chiara Manzoli completed the training by explaining how BRD can be prevented through vaccination. The vaccination schemes of the HIPRABOVIS® range together with close attention to and assessment of the ventilation allow the level of farm health to be improved. In fact, vaccineswelfare controlmonitoring of the farming environment etc. are all tools to be consider around the farm and cannot be considered separately.

HIPRA intends to continue with HIPRA UNIVERSITY professional development training sessions in Italy in order to keep examining the main factors involved in Bovine Respiratory Disease of beef cattle.
