On 15th-16th May 2019, HIPRA participated as a Platinum Sponsor at the International Dairy Federation Conference held in Copenhagen, Denmark.
HIPRA participates in the International Dairy Federation Conference as Platinum Sponsor
For these two days, over 400 professionals interested in topics concerning the dairy sector and milk quality gathered together in order to hear interesting presentations and share their experience with colleagues.
The day before, the company complemented its participation with a pre-seminar on “The role of Specific Immunity in milk quality” exclusively for their customers.
This seminar focused on a better understanding of the role of specific immunity in udder health and milk quality. Tom Greenham, a renowned milk quality specialist from the UK, was the speaker who opened the seminar.
His presentation concerned the use of a mastitis vaccine as a tool to improve udder health and milk quality in dairy practice. Tom explained what could be expected from mastitis vaccines and why vaccines are an important item in the toolkit of mastitis prevention.
Then, Stieneke Ijdema, owner of the Fruerlund dairy farm, spoke about how she has made enormous improvements in the milk quality on her farm, including mastitis prevention through vaccination.
Finally, Michal Pochodyla, Corporate Product Manager at HIPRA, gave a presentation on how the cow’s immune system works in order to protect itself against mastitis, with special emphasis on vaccine-induced immunity.
It is worth mentioning that David Sabaté from HIPRA Scientific presented a poster about the response of dairy cows following vaccination with UBAC® vaccine against mastitis caused by Streptococcus uberis.
Results obtained in this study suggest that antibodies against the BAC antigen could have a role in the reduction of the incidence of clinical mastitis caused by Str. uberis.
By participating in this congress, HIPRA maintains and strengthens its commitment to mastitis prevention through vaccination.
