Coinciding with the tenth anniversary of VIMCO®, HIPRA's inactivated vaccine against sheep and goat mastitis, new editions of the HIPRA University course on milk quality in sheep and goats were held on May 15 and 16 in Valdepeñas (Ciudad Real) and Iznalloz (Granada), respectively.

The training sessions featured Demetrio Herrera, a veterinarian expert in milk quality and co-founder of Q-Llet, as well as the collaboration of AGRAMA (National Association of Breeders of Select Manchega Sheep) in the Ciudad Real edition.

The sessions began with a practical part on the farm, led by Demetrio Herrera, who focused on the milking machine and its importance in preventing mastitis through proper maintenance. During the demonstration, he provided instructions on evaluating different parameters and ensuring the correct functioning of the machine, as well as sharing relevant tips on milk quality in sheep and goats.

Subsequently, a theoretical part was delivered where Demetrio delved into the impact of the milking machine and routine on udder health. Additionally, Miguel Ángel Sanz, a small ruminant technician at HIPRA Spain, discussed the importance of diagnosis and the various tools HIPRA offers for preventing diseases in small ruminants.

The courses were well-received by the attending veterinarians, who appreciated the opportunity to discuss and resolve doubts with recognized experts in the field.

Once again, through these initiatives, HIPRA reaffirms its commitment to the sheep and goat sector, promoting continuous improvement in milk quality and animal health, and consolidating its position as a leader in innovative veterinary solutions.
