Dr Isaac Ballara Rodriguez (Corporate Technical Manager, HIPRA) spoke about current antibiotic reduction in Europe and also discussed vaccination strategies for emerging and re-emerging diseases. Dr Francesc Molist (Schothorst Feed Research) gave a presentation on transition feeding of sows to increase piglet vitality.

In addition, HIPRA presented three research posters at the Banff Pork Seminar. The first poster entitled “Decreasing sow mortality with SUISENG®  vaccine” demonstrated a reduction in sudden death mortality in sows using vaccination against Clostridium Novyi.
The other two posters presented farm trials to demonstrate the effectiveness of VEPURED® vaccine in reducing nursery mortality due to Edema Disease.

The poster entitled “Reduction of Edema Disease mortality with vaccination” showed a reduction of nursery mortality due to Edema Disease using VEPURED® vaccine. And finally, the poster “Comparison of two vaccines in reducing of Edema Disease mortality” showed that VEPURED® vaccine reduced mortality significantly more than other vaccines.

Since 2017 HIPRA CANADA has been very active in commercializing and licensing new innovative products for livestock which includes the following swine vaccines: SUISENG®, VEPURED and ERYSENG® PARVO (vaccine against porcine parvovirus and swine erysipelas).
