In this spanish podcast we are going to talk about an emerging pathology that is commonly called Swollen Head Syndrome, who has not had respiratory symptoms in their farms with cough, mucous secretions, facial edema sometimes complicated with high mortality where the usual vaccination plans fail to prevent recurrences?
EPISODE #1: New trends in the control of respiratory diseases in poultry
Productive performance of the animals
The avian metapneumovirus is an agent that causes clinical procedures in birds, ranging from less to more serious, according to the degree of interaction with other pathogenic agents, to the environmental quality of the houses, as well as to their sanitary status. All this undoubtedly affects the productive performance of the animals and results in significant economic losses for the farm.
Prevent and control: Vaccination
For all these reasons, vaccination is necessary, with live vaccines (in short cycle birds) and with plans that combine live and inactivated vaccines (in long cycle birds) to prevent and control this etiological agent, since in different experiences it has been possible to demonstrate considerable signs of improvement in successive production cycles.
