HIPRA environmental management

HIPRA demonstrates its commitment to the environment and sustainable development in both strategic processes and in the production, innovation, and development of new products, aiming to address the challenges of current and future societies. For proper environmental management, HIPRA has this enviromental policy

The company undergoes periodic internal audits and an annual external audit through a certification company. Following this approach, HIPRA's centres located at the Headquarters (Spain) have the ISO 14001 standard certificate for environmental management.

Promotion of sustainable mobility

HIPRA promotes sustainable mobility and the reduction of atmospheric emissions. To this end, the company has a fleet of 100% electric vehicles for the exclusive use of personnel during trips between different centres. Additionally, the company provides charging points for electric vehicles for all employees and external visitors.

Furthermore, HIPRA encourages carpooling among people who travel the same route to and from work and facilitates bicycle access with central and priority parking areas.

Use of renewable energy

HIPRA is committed to renewable energies by installing solar panels at its centres. This initiative is part of its commitment to sustainability and the fight against climate change.

Currently, more than 6,500 solar panels have been installed at centres located in the province of Girona (Spain), with an annual production forecast of 3100 MW. These installations allow the company to self-generate part of its energy, thereby reducing its carbon footprint and dependence on fossil fuels.

Commitment to CO2 reduction

HIPRA is committed to climate change mitigation and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, calculating its carbon footprint annually.

Water resource management

The production plants at HIPRA's Headquarters in Amer (Spain) have wastewater treatment stations, and all production centres have systems that ensure discharged water meets legally established standards.

HIPRA has made significant investments aimed at reducing water consumption through minimization, optimization, monitoring, and reuse processes, achieving substantial reductions in water consumption despite the company's growth.

Digitalisation and paper use reduction

With a firm commitment to the circular economy, HIPRA actively works to reduce paper consumption. Through digitalisation, responsible use of this resource is promoted, opting for digital alternatives whenever possible.

HIPRA's action lines include document digitization, a culture of awareness for responsible paper use, and providing recycled paper with an Ecolabel certificate, ensuring sustainable and responsible production.

Reuse of protective clothing

HIPRA collaborates with the RightCycle program, an initiative by Kimberly-Clark for recycling personal protective equipment (PPE) and nitrile gloves used in various departments, such as R&D and Production.

Once the protective clothing has been used, after proper recycling, it is collected and transformed into new consumer goods, such as garden furniture or shelves. In this way, a new life is given to this single-use material.

Since the program's launch in 2019, HIPRA has reduced more than half of the waste from gloves and PPE.
