On 27 November, HIPRA was visited by Andrew Knatchbull, a representative from Ansell, who presented the Greenovation™ Award, a recognition of the company’s commitment to sustainability, responsible waste management, and material circularity within the framework of the RightCycle™ programme.

This award recognises companies that lead the segregation and management of single-use personal protective equipment, such as coveralls and nitrile gloves used in areas like Production and R&D, transforming these materials into new recycled products. It highlights HIPRA’s efforts to promote a circular economy. The award was received at HIPRA by the Environment and Purchasing teams.

According to the programme coordinators, HIPRA has positioned itself as one of the organisations that has recovered and managed the largest amount of single-use garments and gloves in 2024, consolidating its commitment to sustainability. The recent figures clearly reflect this leadership and impact:

 - HIPRA recovered more than 50,000 kg of single-use coveralls and gloves during 2024.

 - A 60% increase in the tonnes collected was recorded compared to 2023.

 - Since 2017, HIPRA has collected a total of 168,218 kg, becoming the largest RightCycle™ client in the EMEA region.

Andrew Knatchbull highlighted the role of Sònia González and Carla Simón as true ambassadors of the programme, emphasising that their involvement helps to develop pioneering solutions together with universities and other organisations. He also valued HIPRA’s open culture and strong drive for continuous improvement, key factors that allow processes to be optimised and reinforce the company’s commitment to sustainability and circularity.

HIPRA has been participating in this programme for approximately five years. Thanks to this collaboration, the collected materials are transformed into new products such as carpets or even bicycles. On average, more than 11 tonnes are recovered each year.

During the visit, Ansell representatives held a meeting with the team in charge and toured the facilities where the segregation and materials management process takes place, a key step in ensuring the success of the RightCycle™ project.
